The question is what kind of party do you want to throw? How do you incorporate your child's friends into the celebration? And what on earth do you put in an 18-year-old’s goody bag? No worries. Teenagers don’t need goody bags, although if your heart is set on treat bags, a $5 iTunes or Starbucks card, and some Hershey’s kisses will do nicely. However, a 18th birthday offers all sorts of more grown-up party possibilities. Unless you are going the surprise party route, be sure to clear your plans with your child and involve them in the planning. Here are five 18th birthday party possibilities to help get your creativity going.
Got a zombie fan? Zombie tag or Humans vs. Zombies is an incredibly popular game on college campuses, where the race can last for days. Depending on how you structure it, you can run an outrageous game of zombie tag in just a few hours and still have time for cake and maybe a screening of Zombieland. Host a Settlers of Catan-themed party, and the activities take care of themselves, game play, cool decor and lots of fantastic food can be inspired by those iconic hexagonal tiles. Not a Catan fan? An Apples-to-Apples tournament, Quelf extravaganza or retro game fest are guaranteed to delight. Throw a gigantic games party with a Twister board for 50 or Monopoly game where the players are the pieces.
Firefighter Relay Games Guests are divided into two teams. 4 buckets are needed - 2 at the start line & two about 25 feet away from the start line. The two farthest buckets are filled with water. Then one at a time players take theri sponge, run to their bucket filled with water, get water on the sponge and then they run to put the water in their container near their team. First team that fills their own bucket wins. Fireman Dress Up Relay Place two sets of almost identical items in two baskets. Find things that firemen would use - rain boots, rain coats, fireman hat, length of garden hose rolled up … etc. Then break the guests into two teams and have them line up behind each other. The first person in line from each team must run to the baskets, put on the clothes and items, run back to the start … then run back to the basket, take the items off and run back to the start to tag the next person in line. The team who finishes first wins a prize.
